My name is Lilian Kong Love (I know, I get a lot of jokes about my name, but I love it all the same). I was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia, and have lived in southwest Virginia all my life. I am the middle child of three, I have an older brother and a younger sister. My brother and parents are still in Roanoke, and my sister is in Northern Virginia with her husband. I fell into teaching when I was a nanny to a wonderful little girl. Watching her learn to do things on her own just amazed me! I applied to the teaching program at Radford University; a couple of semesters later, I realized I had found my calling.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA on May 9, 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies - Elementary Education with concentrations in English and Social Sciences. I got my teaching license as well. I went ahead an got my North Carolina license in March 2010 because jobs were so hard to find (They still are!). I went ahead and got my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction because I couldn't fin a job :(
However, after months of job searching, crying, and throwing tantrums, Stafford County decided to hire me in August 2010. I am currently teaching fifth grade in SCPS. I just finished my third year, and I love it! There are days were I want to rip my hair out, but the pros outweigh the cons most of the time!
I do love my job in Stafford, but I do miss my friends and family in Blacksburg, especially my husband. Mike is a doctorate student in Radford University's Counseling PsyD program. He just finished his third year and has 2 more to go! We recently celebrated our second year anniversary! There are two more members of my immediate family; we have two of the sweetest, most precious dogs ever (I'm sure all dog owners think their dogs are the best, but I know mine are!). Aster is a ten-year-old Beagle-Chow mix; Shelby is an eleven-year-old Border Collie mix of some sorts. Mike and I adore them, and they know it! They are essentially our "children."
I have plenty to keep myself busy, having a long distance relationship with Mike and the puppies for hours away, my school work, and my HOBBIES! I have so many of them, that it's beginning to get out of hand. My hobbies include knitting, cross-stitching, and reading. I also consider myself an amateur photographer. And now I'm blogging! I recently found out about blogs and websites that sell things teachers make! So that has become another hobby of mine. Feel free to check mine out! It's on TpT. Eventually, I want to write a kid's book as well! That's a little about me!
I chose you for an award! Come check it out :) http://alwaysalesson.com/2012/07/04/my-first-award/
